Varsity/Reserve Girls Cross Country · Girls XC Dominates GWOC Meet

This weekend, the Girls Cross Country team travelled to Sidney High School to complete in the GWOC meet.  Both the Varsity and Reserve teams brought home the Division and Overall Championships, with plenty of other hardware as well.

In the Varsity race, the girls outpaced second place Springboro by 5 points and third place Beavercreek by 39!  Leading the way for the Elks was Lainey Studebaker (2nd overall), followed by Meredith Rintoul (5th), Megan Quinlin (7th), Meghan Harris (10th), Melissa Rintoul (17th), Sonal Gupta (18th), and Alexa Jennings (24th).  Individual awards included:

                Lainey Studebaker – 1st Team All-GWOC, GWOC Central Runner of the Year

                Meredith Rintoul – 1st Team All-GWOC

                Megan Quinlin – 1st Team All-GWOC

                Meghan Harris  – 2nd Team All-GWOC

                Melissa Rintoul – All-GWOC Honorable Mention

                Sonal Gupta – All-GWOC Honorable Mention

All of the girls were either 1st or 2nd team award winners for the Central Division.

In the Reserve Race, the Elks dominated, sending the first 8 runners across the finish line and ending with a perfect score of 15, easily distancing themselves from 2nd place Beavercreek by 35 points.  Winning the race was Taylor Malchow, followed by Brianna Burkman, Kelsey Kohls, Abby Hecht, Caitlin Culberg, Laura Drew, and Dakotah Feil.

On Saturday October 19th at 2:00 pm the state’s 2nd ranked Elks team competes in the District meet at the Miami Valley Career Tech Center.  Go Elks!
