The varsity softball team traveled to Lebanon on Saturday to face two of the better teams in the State of Ohio. In their opener, they squared off against unbeaten Lebanon who came into the game ranked 2nd in the state and 7th in the nation. The Elks did not flinch and rallied from a 5-2 deficit in the fifth to tie things up at 5. The Warriors then brought in their ace Tara Trainer to shut down the Elks the rest of the way and scratched across a run in the bottom of the 7th to stay unbeaten with a 6-5 win.
In game 2, Granville took advantage of one bad defensive inning by the Elks to plate 6 runs and use that to post a 9-5 win.
Now 12-8 on the year, the Elks return to action on Monday night at Wayne and then host the Warriors on Tuesday at CHS. Both games begin at 5:00 PM. With two wins, the Elks would claim the outright GWOC Central Division Championship.
The JV team defeated Lebanon on Saturday, 14-2.
