Varsity/Reserve Girls Cross Country · Girls Cross Country Wins Regional!

Excitement is definitely in the air surrounding Centerville Girls Cross Country as this team of talented runners are rolling on to States!! This past Saturday, these focused and determined ladies nabbed the team’s 2nd Regional Championship for Centerville with a score of 40 team points, qualifying the CGXC runners for the 5th straight year to the OHSAA State Cross Country Championships. The team was led once again by senior Lainey Studebaker who ran a commanding second place finish, followed by sophomore Kelli Walsh (7th), and senior Taylor Malchow (8th). It was an incredible finish for the four freshman varsity runners as well, who sailed across the line with an unbelievable one second spread between the four of them. Times for these seven runners were as follows:

Lainey Studebaker 18:02 (2nd place)
Kelli Walsh 18:28 (7th place)
Taylor Malchow 18:44 (8th place)
Grace Kilroy 18:54 (13th place)
Savannah Lowe 18:54 (14th place)
Allison Fick 18:55 (16th place)
Rachel Whitehead 18:55 (17th place)

Consistency and teamwork are the keys to success for CGXC, where once again these girls worked together and pushed each other to another astounding finish with all seven crossing the line in under 19 minutes. With these times, Centerville proudly placed six runners on the podium of the top 16 overall!
