The varsity girls soccer team ran into a buzz saw on Tuesday night at Lakota East High School in the form of the 8th ranked Loveland Tigers who eliminated the Elks from the state tournament in the regional semifinals, 4-0. The Elks kept it close in the first half and only surrendered a goal with 15:38 left to trail 1-0 at the break. Loveland quickly put the game on ice early in the second half as they scored just five minutes in to go up, 2-0. To ensure there would be no comeback, the Tigers added two more goals over the next 13 minutes of play to build a commanding 4-0 lead which would ultimately end up as the final score.
The girls close out the season with a 12-4-4 record, a GWOC Central Division and a Southwest District Championship and the knowledge they were one of the final 16 Division I teams in the state of Ohio still playing soccer.
