Just two days after having their 10-game winning streak snapped on their home field, the visiting Northmont Thunderbolts returned the favor tonight and handed the Elks their first home loss of the year. Northmont built a seemingly insurmountable 6-1 lead after four innings, but the Elks refused to quit. Mollie Paulick smacked a solo home run and Taylor White added a 3-run blast, but the Elks could get no closer and dropped a 6-5 decision.
Now 11-2 on the year and 7-1 in the GWOC Central, the Elks find themselves tied for first with Northmont with just two league games left to play.
The JV team, who dropped a 1-run game at home on Monday to Northmont, traveled to Clayton tonight and unloaded a 13-2 knockout of the T’Bolts.
The varsity team returns to action on Friday night when they host Division II powerhouse Greenville in a 5:00 PM contest at Wright State University.
