Varsity Girls Softball · Softball Splits With Lebanon

The varsity softball team welcomed perennial power Lebanon to Centerville HS for a season ending doubleheader on Senior Day for the Lady Elks.  The Elks came out strong and posted an impressive, 7-3, win in game one of the doubleheader.  The Warriors bounced back in game two to defeat the Elks, 9-2, and earn a split of the doubleheader.  The JV team also split a doubleheader with Lebanon on Saturday.  The Elks dropped game one, 11-4, but rebounded to win game two, 4-3, as Alyssa Lewis delivered the game winning hit.

The Elks finish the regular season with a 16-5 record and earned a share of the GWOC Central title with Northmont.  They now focus their full attention on the state tournament which begins tomorrow.  The #3 seed Elks play their first game at 5:00 on Wednesday night at home against the winner of the first round match-up between Sidney and Tecumseh.  If they win that game, they will advance to the Sectional Finals a week from Monday at 5:00 PM at Fairmont High School where their likely opponent would be #7 seed Miamisburg.
