The varsity softball team blanked visiting Tecumseh last night, 2-0, in the second round of the OHSAA state tournament.
Sophomore first baseman Olivia Ferrazza lined a base hit to right center field to start the game and used her blazing speed to turn what should have been a single into a double. She was sacrificed to third on a perfect bunt and then scored a long sacrifice fly to center field off the bat of senior pitcher Mollie Paulick. Paulick capped off the scoring by launching a long home run to center field in the bottom of the third and made sure that lead would stand up by firing a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts.
Now 17-5 on the year, the Elks will play the winner of tonight’s game between Miamisburg and Fairborn in the Sectional Finals on Monday night at 5:00 PM at Fairmont High School.
