The varsity softball team welcomed Beavercreek High School to town last night looking to clinch at least a share of the GWOC NL East championship. To add to the festivities, it was also senior night so it turned into an extra special night for the Elks.
The team jumped out ahead early and held off the Beavers, 8-6, to clinch a share of the title. They will win it outright should Wayne happen to lose to Northmont.
The seniors had a great night as they played a part in more than 2/3 of the outs recorded by the Elks and accounted for more than half of the runs scored.
The JV team lost at Beavercreek.
Now 10-13 on the year and 7-5 in the NL East, the team is right back in action tonight when they welcome perennial state power Greenville to CHS. The JV team travels to Stebbins Field in Greenville to face the Green Wave. Both games get underway at 5:00 PM.
