The boys volleyball team traveled to Moeller High School on Friday night to take on the Crusaders on their Senior Night. Moeller is a tradition rich program who is generally a state powerhouse and this year is no different as the Crusaders entered the game as the second ranked team in the state.
Unfazed by the atmosphere and their opponent, the Elks came out of the gates strong and jumped all over Moeller in the first set to take a commanding 18-5 lead. Stunned by what was going on, the Crusaders called a timeout and regrouped for the most part, but it was not enough to keep the Elks from winning the first set, 25-22. That was as good as it would get for the Elks as the Crusaders took off from there and won the next three sets, 11-25, 19-25 and 14-25 to claim the match, 3-1.
In the first match of the night, the Crusaders freshman team beat the JV B team, 9-25, 10-25. In the middle match of the night, the JV A team also fell to the Crusaders, 14-25, 10-25.
The Elks finish the regular season with a final record of 10-13 and now set their sights on the OHSBVA regional tournament. As the #4 seed, they will play #3 seed Lakota East on Monday night at 6:00 PM for the right to advance to the regional finals on Saturday.
