Varsity Boys Hockey, Varsity Girls Lacrosse · New Head Coaches for Girl’s Lacrosse and Men’s Hockey Named

The Centerville Athletic Department would like to welcome two new head coaches to the Elk Family for the upcoming 2017-2018 season.

First for Hockey, I am proud to introduce Scott Mathis, who will take over the reigns from Coach Craig Chabut who stepped away to fulfill his increasing family commitments. Coach Mathis comes very highly recommended and should be an excellent fit for Centerville Hockey. He comes to us from Beavercreek where he was an assistant coach. Prior to coaching at Beavercreek, Coach Mathis played defense for the Air Force Academy Falcons and was 16th in the nation for goals by a defenseman during his Junior year. He was also named to the Atlantic Hockey Association’s First Team All League during his Junior and Sophomore years. Prior to his time at USAFA he played for the USHL’s Cedar Rapids Rough Riders. Coach Mathis is from the Chicago area originally and clearly brings a lot of hockey experience from very high levels of play which should be a huge benefit to Centerville.

For girl’s lacrosse, the Lady Elks will welcome Brian Lokai as their new head coach who will take over for Coach Courtney Edwards-Johnson who is moving to the Columbus region. Coach Lokai has been an integral part of girl’s lacrosse in the Centerville area for many years and will look to continue the recent success of the program moving forward.
