Varsity/Reserve Girls Cross Country · Girls Cross Country Finishes Fifth at District, Qualifies for Regionals

The three time defending state champion girls cross country team finished in fifth place at the District competition today, qualifying for next weekend’s regional competition at Troy Memorial Stadium.  The majority of the top runners were rested today to prepare for the stretch run of regional, state, Nike midwest and, hopefully a return trip to Nike nationals in Oregon.

It was a perfect October day at Cedarville University and the girls used the weather to their advantage as they ran another beautiful race.  Leading the way was sophomore Dalia Einstein who finished tenth in a time of 19:37.47.  Also scoring for the Elks were freshman Nikita Jindal, who finished fifteenth in a time of 20:09.72, sophomore Sydney Khosla, who was eighteenth in a time of 20:14.69, sophomore Katie Jauch, who was twenty sixth in a time of 20:30.44, and senior Megan Knauer, who was thirty third in a time of 20:50.72.

The girls are back in action next Saturday at Troy Memorial Stadium in the regional competition.  Racing gets underway at 12:30 PM as they attempt to return to National Trail Raceway the following Saturday for the state competition.
