The boys and girls bowling teams hosted their annual Elk Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Poelking Lanes South. Faced with tough competition from several of the top teams in the state, the Elks held their own and performed very well.
The girls team rolled a team score of 4,837 to finish as runner-up. They featured the top two bowlers in Payton Watson, who rolled a 679 series and Brogan Zengel, who fired a 664. Also finishing in the top ten for the Lady Elks was Allie Ball, whose 621 series was good enough for seventh place. All three were selected to the All-Tournament Team.
The boys team rolled a team score of 5,419 to win their half of the invitational. Leading the way for the Elks were two top ten finishers in Dylan Dobran and Mason Eckley. Dylan shot a 685 series which was good enough for sixth place while Mason shot a 664 which landed him in eighth place. Both young men were selected to the All-Tournament Team for their efforts.
The JV teams also competed at the Elk Invite this past weekend which was competitive and fun. For may of these young bowlers, it was their first competitive event and a great learning experience going forwards to help prepare them for the rest of the year.
The teams are back in action next weekend when they travel to Columbus Square Bowling Palace to compete in the Kickoff Classic. Bowling gets underway at 12:30 PM in this varsity-only event.
