Elks News · Girls Basketball Bounces Back

The varsity girls basketball team opened their season in the very competitive Journey to the Tourney Showcase at Lakota West last Sunday and lost their opener to a very talented Gilmour Academy. The girls traveled to Sidney on Thursday night in hopes of getting things back on track, mission accomplished!

The varsity team set a school record for 3 pointers in a game by making 16 of them in the game in route to a 86-30 victory over the Yellow Jackets. Freshmen Amy Velasco led the Lady Elks with 22 points including six 3-pointers. Sophomore Kelsey George had 21 points including five 3-pointers. Sophomore Emma Stanley chipped in 11 points for the Lady Elks. The win evens the varsity record at 1-1 on the young season.

The JV team beat Sidney 49-11. The Lady Elks are back in action at home on Monday December 4th as the Freshmen host Alter at 4:30 pm while the JV and Varsity play Ponitz at 6:00 pm and 7:30 pm respectfully.
