The varsity boys basketball team played a really tough opponent at home on Saturday in Louisville Trinity. The Elks came out tough to lead 16-9 after the first quarter. The Elks were able to build on this lead and were up 27-18 at the half. Trinity came out the 2nd half and turned up the pressure and climbed back into the game closing the Elks lead to 39-38 at the end of the 3rd quarter. In the 4th quarter, the Shamrocks were able to claim their first lead and held on to beat the Elks 57-54. Leading scorers for the Elks were Ryan Marchal with 16 points and Matt Pearce with 14 points. This was Regional tournament level play early in the year. Both teams are destined to have great seasons.
JV lost to Trinity, 52-43, and Freshmen Gold lost to Trinity, 53-47. The boys are back in action at home on Friday, December 7th vs. Fairmont with the 9th game at 4:30 pm, JV at 6 pm and Varsity at 7:30 pm.
Both freshmen teams will host Moeller on Monday at 6:00 and 7:30 PM.
