The varsity girls basketball team traveled to Springfield on Wednesday and came home with a 70-34 win to move the team to 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the GWOC East. The Lady Elks led 16-12 after the first quarter and then extended their lead to 35-19 at the half. The second half was all Elks as the team built a 50-27 lead after 3 quarters of play and then dominated the 4th quarter to outscore the Cats 35-15 in the second half. Sophomore Amy Velasco led all scorers with 24 points, Freshman Cotie McMahon added 17 points and senior Sam Chable added 10 points.
The JV team beat Springfield 52-22. The teams are back in action on Saturday as the Lady Elks host Beavercreek with the 9th playing at 4:30 pm, JV at 6 pm and the Varsity at 7:30 pm.
