Varsity Girls Basketball · Lady Elks Basketball Gets Back On Track

The varsity girls basketball team traveled to Kenton Ridge on Thursday night for their first game since dropping their only game of the year at the buzzer in the Championship game of the Hoops4Pink tourney being held in Hammond, IN over the holiday break. The Lady Elks found themselves trailing 11-10 after the 1st quarter but then began to put themselves in familiar territory by taking a 10 point lead at the half 28-18. The Lady Elks managed to stay ahead by double digits the rest of the way and came away with a 61-46 win over the Lady Cougars. The Lady Elks were led by senior Alexis Hutchison who had 14 points while senior Sam Chable and Freshmen Cotie McMahon each added 9 points. Sophomore point guard Amy Velasco dished out 9 assists. The win puts the girls at 11-1 overall on the season and they are currently 5-0 in GWOC East play.

The JV team beat Kenton Ridge 57-13. The Lady Elks are back in action at home on Saturday against Bellbrook. 9th will play at 4:30 pm, JV at 6:00 pm and the Varsity at 7:30 pm. If you have not come out to watch these girls play I highly suggest getting out to the gym, these girls can play!
