The varsity bowling teams traveled to Beaver-Vu Lanes last night for their final regular season match of the year against the host Beavercreek Beavers. The boys knew it was a winner-take-all match for the GWOC East title while the girls were trying to complete a perfect, 12-0, GWOC regular season. Missions Accomplished!
The boys knew they would have a much more difficult time with the Beavers than they did the first time they faced off, a 353 pin win for the Elks, last month. The teams battled back-and-forth all night long, but in the end, the Elks emerged victorious by less than 100 pins, 2,568-2,491. The win clinched the outright GWOC East title for the Elks, who finished 11-1 in league matches. Leading the way for the Elks was Ian Dobran with a dazzling 501 and MAson Eckley with a 470.
The girls, who had long ago clinched the East title, were trying to complete a perfect regular season and did so by a razor thin margin of 25 pins, 2,091-2,066. The win gave the Elks a perfect 12-0 regular season record. Kaylie SIpes rolled a 384 and Allie Ball a 383 to lead the Lady Elks.
In the JV matches, the Elks fell in the boys match, 2,333-1,858, and the girls also lost, 1,830-1,659.
Up next for the varsity Elks is the postseason which gets underway this Saturday at 9:00 AM with the GWOC postseason tournament at Poelking South.
