The varsity boys volleyball team could not have picked a much tougher opponent to play in their home opener than the St. Xavier Bombers. However, that was who was on the schedule as the early season gauntlet continued for this young, inexperienced team tonight.
As expected, the Bombers showed no mercy and swept the Elks, 3-0. They won the first set, 25-7, to make an early statement. The Elks played much better in the second set, but the Bombers still came out on top, 25-18. Sensing an opportunity to end the match in three sets, the Bombers took full advantage of their opportunity and finished the Elks off, 25-15.
The JV A and JV B teams did not fare any better as they were both swept, 2-0, in the first two matches of the night. The JV A lost, 25-6, 25-11 while the JV B fell, 25-11, 25-6.
Now 0-3 on the year, the Elks are back in action on Tuesday here at home, but things certainly do not get any easier as the Beavercreek Beavers roll into CHS. The tripleheader is scheduled with JV B at 5:30, JV A at 6:30 and varsity at approximately 7:45.
