The varsity boys lacrosse team traveled to New Albany High School on Saturday afternoon to take on the Eagles in a highly anticipated region 3 showdown. The Eagles came in ranked one spot ahead of the Elks in the region so everyone anticipated a good game. The Eagles have been one of the Columbus area’s best teams and a top state power as well.
Early on, the Eagles looked like they were going to run away and hide from the Elks as they jumped to a quick, 4-0, lead forcing the Elks to regroup. They did just that and tightened up their defense and started playing a lot better on the offensive end. Unfortunately, the Elks could never recover from the early deficit and dropped a tough, 7-6, game. In the second game of the day, the JV team also fell to the Eagles, 10-6.
Now 11-3 on the year, the boys are back in action on Friday night when they travel to Lakota West High School to take on the Firebirds in the annual “Battle for the Paddle.” The JV game gets underway at 5:30 PM and will be followed by the varsity at approximately 7:15.
