The varsity baseball team welcomed DII state power Hamilton Badin to Booster Park on Friday for Senior Night. This was the Elks’ third attempt at Senior Night and Mother Nature finally cooperated..sort of!
The Rams and Elks battled all night, but in the end, the Rams came out on top, 5-3. Senior Connor Walch threw four innings and fellow senior Shea Hendrixson an inning and a third. Senior Jared Lieberman had two hits and fellow senior Thomas Jenkins had three hits including a double.
In other games on Friday, the freshman team fell to Beavercreek in the bottom of the seventh on the road, 5-4, while the JV team traveled to Badin and handed the Rams a 13-2 defeat.
On Saturday, the freshman and JV teams both wrapped up their seasons by winning their invitational tourney. The JV team beat Chillicothe in their opener, 20-1, and then faced Elder in the championship game. Behind a complete game, one-hitter by Max Whitesell, the Elks rolled to a 5-0 win. The boys finished the season with a final record of 16-8. In the freshman tourney, the boys beat Elder in their opener at Schoolhouse Park, 5-2. They followed that up with a hard-fought, 7-5, win over Marysville in the championship game. The boys finished the year at 11-11.
