The varsity boys volleyball team started their busy final week of the regular season with a trip to Cincinnati tonight to take on the Elder Panthers. Elder came into the game as the seventh ranked team in the state and were looking to build momentum heading into next week’s regional tournament.
In the first set, the Panthers took care of business and handed the Elks a 25-16 setback. The Panthers then turned up the heat in the second set as they took control early and rolled to a 25-5 win to take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five match. Sensing the opportunity to close out the match in straight sets, the Panthers did just that with a 25-16 third set win.
In the first match of the night, the JVB team fell to the Panthers, 25-16, 25-11. That was followed by the JVA match which was also won by Elder, 25-12, 25-11.
Now 4-18 on the year, the boys are back in action tomorrow night when they welcome the state’s #1 ranked Division II team, St. Charles, to CHS for Senior Night. The JVA and JVB games both get underway at 5:30 and will be followed by the varsity at approximately 6:45.
