On Saturday night, the varsity girls soccer team hosted Lakota East on Senior Night. The Thunderhawks were playing the Elks very tough in the early stages of the first half when sophomore Jenna Hallbeck struck to give the Lady Elks a 1-0 lead at the half. In the second half, Lakota East answered to tie the game 1-1, but Hallbeck struck again with 7:22 left to give the Elks a 2-1 lead. Senior Chloe Spitler added an insurance goal with 4:00 left to lift the Lady Elks to the 3-1 win, their 10th in a row. The JVA team lost to an undefeated Lakota East team in the first game of the day, 1-0. Meanwhile, the JV B team won at Turpin, 2-0.
Now 12-2-1 overall and 6-1 in league play, the girls are back in action tonight when they travel to Beavercreek and attempt to end the longest winning streak in the state, which currently sits at 38. The Beavers are the defending DI State Champs and are currently unbeaten, untied and ranked #1 in the state poll. JVA plays at 5:30 followed by the varsity at 7:15 pm.
