The 2019-2020 hockey season got underway Friday night as the team traveled to the Kettering Recreation Center to take on the Alter Knights. The first fifteen minutes of action were dominated by both defenses and the goalies as only one puck found its way into the back of the net. Unfortunately for the Elks, it was a goal for the Knights to give them a 1-0 lead after one period. The second period was a different story as the Knights exploded for five goals while holding the Elks scoreless. As the game shifted to the third period, the Elks were staring at a 6-0 deficit. The boys got their first goal of the season in the third period, but that was not enough as Alter added three more to hand the Elks a 9-1 defeat on opening night.
Now 0-1 on the season, the boys are back in action on Friday night when they travel to Miami University in Oxford to take on Perrysburg in the first game of the Thanksgiving tournament at Goggin Ice Arena where they will play four games this weekend. Puck drop friday night is scheduled for 5:30 PM.
