The varsity hockey team traveled to historic Hobart Arena last night to take on the Troy Trojans. Both teams were hoping to wrap up the weekend with a win and a much needed boost of confidence heading into the week.
In the first period, both teams played great defense and kept the other off the board leading to a scoreless tie after 15 minutes of play. In the second period, the host Trojans struck twice and then Elks freshman John Harris cut the deficit in half. As the two teams headed to the third and final period, the score stood at 2-1 in favor of the hosts. Unfortunately for the Elks, the Trojans were able to score two more goals in the third period while keeping the Elks off the board en route to a 4-1 victory.
Now 4-13-1 on the year and 1-6 in league play, the Elks return to action this weekend as they host the MLK tourney. Games will be played at South Metro starting on Friday night against Elder at 7:00 PM.
