The bowling teams wrapped up the 2019-2020 regular season tonight with a huge home match against Beavercreek on Senior Night. Up until a couple of stumbles last week at Fairmont and Wayne, this match looked as if it would decide the American division champion for the boys. Instead, it turned out to be Beavercreek’s attempt to complete a perfect regular season.
After a nice ceremony honoring this year’s seniors, the boys got to work determined to prevent Beavercreek from not only finishing a perfect season, but also tarnishing their Senior Night. Led by Brendan Salo’s 486 series with games of 238 and 248, the boys bowled better than they had in a long time and rolled to an almost 200-pin victory, 2,618-2,438. As it turned out, that would be the only match of the four the Elks would win.
In the girls varsity match, Kaylie Sipes fired a 442 series, but it was not enough to save the girls from falling to the Beavers, 2,132-1,937.
Both JV teams also fell to the Beavers with the boys dropping a 2,330-1,839 match despite Max Hamrick’s team-leading 393 series, while the girls fell, 1,932-1,461.
The varsity teams now set their sights on the 2020 postseason tournament. Up first is the GWOC conference tournament which will take place this Saturday at Beaver-Vu starting at 9:00 AM.
