Elks News · Elks Bounce Back And Beats Fairfield At Home Friday

The Elks took advantage of the unique opportunity that allows team to keep playing once they are bounced from the playoffs. After last weeks loss to the Wayne Warriors the Elks invited Fairfield to play another regular season game. The Elks beat Fairfield 40-28. The Elks jumped out quickly and scored on a 59 yard TD pass from Chase Harrison to Cam Smith to put the Elks up 7-0 with 9:08 left in the 1st quarter. Fairfield quickly answered with a 19 yard TD run and it was tied at 7-7 with 2:38 left in the 1st quarter. Harrison his Smith again for a 31 yard TD pass and the Elks lead 14-7 with 1:15 left in the 1st quarter. Courville added a 35 yard field goal with 4:07 left in the 2nd quarter and the Elks lead 17-7. Fairfield scored from 4 yards out with :46 seconds left in the half to send us into halftime with the Elks leading 17-14.

The first play of the 2nd half on a 45 yard TD run to make it 21-17 Fairfield with 11:51 left in the 3rd quarter. Chase went back to work and hit Smith again this time from 16 yards out for a TD and to put the Elks up 24-21 with 1:36 left in the 3rd quarter. With 11:20 left in the game Harrison once again threw a TD pass to Smith from 36 yards out, Elks were now up 31-21. They were not finished as Harrison for the 5th time hit Cam Smith for a TD pass from 17 yards out to make it 38-21 Elks with 6:31 to play. Fairfield threw a TD pass to cut the lead to 38-28. The Elks blocked a punt to get a safety for the final score of 40-28.

The defense played great led once again by seniors Jonathan Bruder and Kris Artis. Elks are now 4-4 on the season.
