Elks News · Girls Soccer Knocks Off Lakota West To Win Regional Title


The girls soccer team traveled to Lakota West on Saturday night to face the defending D-I State Champion Lakota West Firebirds for the Regional Title. The Lady Elks and Lakota both had some great scoring opportunities in the first half but both goalies were up to the challenge and the score remained tied at 0-0 at the half. The Lady Elks came out in the 2nd half and really controlled the game and owned possession in the 2nd half.

At the 24 minute mark of the 2nd half senior Kenzie Smith scored off of a corner kick to out the Lady Elks up 1-0. At the 12:15 mark senior Braelen Devoe was able to head in a goal off of a corner kick to give the Lady Elks a commanding 2-0 lead. Allison Colopy took over from there along with her strong defensive teammates in front of her to secure the win. The Lady Elks are now 19-1-1 and will advance to the State Semi-Finals on Tuesday November 10th at 7 pm vs. Lewis Center Olentangy at Springfield High School.
