Elks News · Robillard and Bucher GO 1st/2nd At State Meet, Lead CGXC To 5th State Title

Sophomore Mia Robillard and Senior Emma Bucher saved their best race of the year for just the perfect time and the rest of their teammates followed right along and the Lady Elks came away with the D-I State Championship. At the 2 mile point of the race Mia was in 5th place and Emma in 2nd place as all the runners disappeared out of site and as they re-entered the stadium at Fortress Obetz Mia Robillard was in 1st place and Emma Bucher was close behind in 2nd place. Mia and Emma crossed the line 1/2 with Mia running a 17:58.5 and Emma a 17:59.8 and set the stage for the rest of the team to bring home the title and they did just that.

Nikki Jindal came in 33rd at 19:04.8, Brooke Strobel came in 41 at 19:13.5, Arej Salem came in 110th at 20:14.1, Alayna Skidmore came in 135th at 20:41.5 and Peri Roads came in 141st at 20:48.2.

Just an incredible race for our team and a true team title. I am so proud of how these girls truly only care about the team and leave their personal goals and feelings behind and allow that to all be a part of the team journey.
